Our foreign exchange student (who is on a US State Dept. program scholarship) registered for the TOEFL with Educational Testing Services, she only knew to register in one city- Concord, NH.
when the admission ticket arrived, it was for a city that was an hour and a half away. Buried in the multiple paragraph email sent by ETS, the student didn't notice that they had changed her venue.
We called ETS as soon as we discovered it, but according to them, it was too late for her to either reschedule the test or move the venue, so she was supposed to be out the $180 fee. In her home country, her parents ( both educated professionals) work full time and bring home a collective $700 a month.
It was not possible for her to reschedule. The whole ETS process is antiquated and terrible customer service.
